Difference between Alternator and Generator. By Yuvi - Study Point

Hey everyone, today we are going to see the simple difference between Alternator and Generator.
So, without wasting any time lets get started.

  • Alternator
  1. An alternator is a machine that converts mechanical energy from a prime mover into the A.C electrical power at a specific frequency and voltage.
  2. Alternator induces an alternating current.
  3. The input supply in the alternator is taken from the stator.
  4. The alternator has a variable output e.m.f.
  5. The alternator is smaller in size as compared to the generator and that's why it requires less space as compared to the generator.
  6. The output of the alternator is higher than the generator.
  7. The alternator has a wide range of rotation per minute (RPM).
  8. The armature of an alternator is stationary which means in an alternator, electricity is produced when the magnetic field spins inside the stator (winding of wire).
  9. The alternator has a rotating magnetic field.
  10. A dead battery is can't be charged by an alternator and if we try to charge it then there is a possibility that it will burn out.
  • Generator
  1. The generator can convert mechanical energy from the prime mover into A.C or D.C electrical power.
  2. Alternating current can be produced by an alternator and this alternating current is converted into direct current with the help of commutator.
  3. The input is taken from the rotor in the generator.
  4. The generator's output voltage is constant.
  5. The generator's size is greater than the alternator and hence it requires large space as compared to the alternator.
  6. The generator's output is low as compared to the alternator.
  7. The generator has a narrow range of RPM (rotation per minute).
  8. In the generator, the armature is rotating which means the winding of the wire in a generator spins inside a fixed magnetic field to generate electricity.
  9. The generator has a stationary magnetic field.
  10. The generator can be used for charging a dead battery.

Impulse turbine simple explanation. By Yuvi - Study Point

Hey everyone, today we are going to understand about Impulse turbine. So, without wasting any time lets get started. In an impulse turbine, we are generating power by making the use of high-speed water jet impact. once, we have high-speed water jet, we can use its impact to rotate a turbine. In impulse turbine potential energy of the water is converted into kinetic energy by passing it through a nozzle. Impulse turbine is totally remain dipped in water. We can say that the impulse turbine uses Newton's second law of motion as it totally depends on two main factors i.e, the mass of water which was flowing into the turbine and change in the velocity of the flow coming into the turbine to that of going out of turbine after impact.                                 As with a considerable decrement in the velocity, the mass of water entering into the turbine is same as that of mass coming out of t...

NBFM & WBFM (Narrow band frequency modulation & Wide band frequency modulation) simple explanation. By Yuvi - Study Point

Hey everyone, today we are going to learn about NBFM & WBFM (Narrowband frequency modulation & Wideband frequency modulation) in simple or easy way. So, without wasting any time lets get started. The information about NBFM & WBFM When the spectrum's efficiency is important or it is required then we use NBFM (Narrowband frequency modulation) is used.  But when better signal quality is required or when it is important then we use WBFM (Wideband frequency modulation). The term NBFM is used for those applications where the modulation index is less than or equal to 1. And the term WBFM is used for those applications where the modulation index is greater than or equal to 1. Now, let's see more difference between Narrow band frequency modulation(NBFM) and Wideband frequency modulation(WBFM). The term narrow-band and wide-band refer to the actual radio channel bandwidth. The purpose or advantage of using NBFM (Narrowband frequency modulation) The purpo...

Ohm's law simple learning BY Yuvi - Study Point

Hey guys, have you ever heard about Ohm's law, ok so I will teach you in an easy way. So let's get started. It is the basic rule of electricity and it explains the relationship between voltage, electric current & resistance. Ohm's law states that the electric current which is flowing through a circuit or conductor is directly proportional to the voltage and inversely proportional to the resistance. In other words, if resistance is not changed then the electric current flowing through a conductor will increase with the increase in voltage. And if the voltage is not changed then the electric current which is flowing through a conductor decreases with the increase in resistance.    Ohm's law formulas, V = I * R R = V / I I = V / R Ohm's law states that Resistance (R) of the conductor is constant. [*Note = But research shows that the resistance is directly proportional to the length of the conductor and inversely proportional to the cross-sec...
